Ancestry have Australian Electoral Rolls, 1903-1980.

You can try the Australian National Archives

http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/NameSearch/Interface/NameSearchForm.aspx

Also http://trove.nla.gov.au/ to possibly 1950

http://ryersonindex.net/search.php for newspaper death notices

Cherilyn has a thread, Lookup offer for Australia and offers to help

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1198324

If you are looking for potentially living people, you could post on Find Living Relatives and see what assistance is offered. Alternatively, ask on this thread.

Trudianne - would it be possible to edit your post to get rid of the 'white space' please? Not essential, but it does make it easier to read the thread :-)

Hi Mark,

What information are you looking for?

Do you know what State they lived/or are living in?

The only online information available c1940 is -

Western Australia deaths to 1971

New South Wales marriages 1960, deaths 1980

Queensland deaths 1964

There are also a number of helpers on here who have access to Victorian records - marriages to 1942 and deaths to 1985

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 1 Dec 2012 17:34

do you have access to Ancestry? Do you know tree owner: MichaelMahar61? It might be worth sending him a message. He was active on the site 2 days ago.

His tree shows 4 'living' children. 1 female, 3 male. He 'might' be one of the males.

Mark

Mark Report 1 Dec 2012 17:36

Yes i believe i had made contact with this person my messages get opened but ignored for some reason...

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 1 Dec 2012 17:37

Sorry - no relationships or ages shown on the ER, only names, occupations, and address.

Names are listed alphabetically by surname, so its not easy finding out other people/different surnames, living at the same address.

Mark

Mark Report 1 Dec 2012 17:38

Would it help if i send you a pm with the other names i have

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 1 Dec 2012 17:45

Have search on http://trove.nla.gov.au/

There might be birth announcements for the some of the children

Western Australian Archives don't help with births etc.
BIRTHS (1841-1932)
DEATHS (1841-1971)
MARRIAGES (1841-1936)

Even though George's death is outside the search parameter, you might be able to order it. it should show the names of his children (as known to the informant)

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 1 Dec 2012 17:52

If you know the names of other children, they may be listed on the ER, but they'd have to be over 21.

Don't know if this helps or not

Internments at Wickepin Cemetery
Wickepin Shire, Wheatbelt Region, Western Australia

>>MAHAR, George Martin, 70 years, 28 Jul 80, - Roman Cath Grave No. 2.30
xx MAHAR, Janet Reed, 73 years, 14 Jun 61, Wife of Martin, - Roman Cath Grave No. 1.22
xx MAHAR, Martin, 91 years, 3 Sep 70, Husband of Janet, - Roman Cath Grave No. 2.49
MAHAR, Mary, 76 years, 20 May 23, - Old
MAHAR, Mildred, 85 years, 2 Jun 75, Wife of Bill, - Roman Cath Grave No. 2.31
MAHAR, William Joseph, 88 years, 18 Jul 73, Husband of Mildred, Father of Reginald, Edna, Mildred, Kenneth, John, Roy, Florence, Ursula, Martin, Alfred & Herbert, - Roman Cath Grave No. 2.29

http://goo.gl/fsVQR

It could mean that the Martin who appears on the ER is George's father, rather than his son. MichaelMahar61's tree does give Martin Mahar and Janet Reid Currie as George's parents.

There is a contact email address for the contibutor

Hi Mark,

If you go to Cherilyn's thread given above, she may be able to help you further. She has access to a number of W.A. sites.

Remember, to mention this thread so she doesn't duplicate what you already have been given.
