Could someone please help me to investigate this area .
Looking into the fact I was told I was christened in this area.

Burgh by sands is in the Carlisle registration district, but not seeing a birth for you - where were you actually born and when?

If you Google Burgh by Sands there is plenty of info about the place.

What is it that you wish to find out?

OK, I work in Carlisle - will take a look at the parish register next week.

So, your grandmother would have been getting on in terms of age. Maybe she couldnt travel and wanted you baptised close to where she lived.

Valerie, you didn't need to delete your post, you could have clicked on edit and just taken out your dob. Think there is only one church in Burgh, but I'll let you know and PM the image if I can find it.

Anyway, they are quite insular in that area, so will also take a look at Gins possible marriage and children as well - Gins were they all born locally?

Well, it's taken a while but finally got to the records office this afternoon. I've got a copy of the page for your christening, so I'll scan and PM you either later or in the morning. It was at St Michaels, Burgh.

The marriage of your grandparents John Birkett & Eliza Fiddler on 26/10/1898 in St Michaels would confirm the various info already posted. He was 22, a husbandman of Burgh, father Wiliam Birkett, husbandman. She was 21 of Burgh, father John Fiddler (deceased) coal agent. The witnesses were John & Ester Fiddler.

Their children were all christened at St Michaels, and the address given for all but Ann just statedd Burgh by Sands, hers also stated Station Road:

However, nether John or Eliza were christened at Burgh or Beaumont, and their parents were not married in either of these parishes.
