Find Ancestors

Hello everyone,

Im on the last line of grandparent enquiry now, but am struggling a great deal. (as usual). Ok so here we go.......

My grandfather was George Muir Scott, known as Jock. He was born around 1929, some where around fauldhouse, west lothian. He died in Fauldhouse in august 1999. I know this to be a fact. He never married my nan but she took his name. Her name was Pauline Grantham. She already had three girls with her previous husband, Donald Hortop. George and Pauline had my mother.

Now im not sure if Muir was his middle name or part of his surname. It is believed that Muir was his mother's maiden name, but i do not know if this is fact or family rumour I also believe her first name was Norah. My mother didnt remember her name as she was only known to her grandchildren as Granny. I have no clue as to his father. But i do know he had several siblings. Mostly brothers and at least one sister. I know one of his brothers had three girls. two with one woman, they lived and are living in fauldhouse. And the other with someone else. I know this third girl now lives in america but am not sure if she grew up there or not. I believe one of my grandad's brothers to be called John. It might also be their father's name but im only guessing with that.

I have spent the last week searching through this site to find anything on my scottish family, but have had no luck. Could anyone please help me at all?

Apart from Andrew, the others were born in Fauldhouse

George's death certificate will give his parents names including his mother's maiden surname if the informant knew the details.

A scottish cousin i never knew about messaged me on finding out im creating a family tree. He has told me that those are my great grandparents names. Although he said he was sure if John had a middle name or not. Thank you for this info, i will see if my cousin knows or has heard of any of these people.

You would have to apply to Edinburgh to get a Birth Certificate for George.
A John Scott married a Norah Muir in Fauldhouse in 1926.
