Hello to all those out there. I am hoping that somebody can help me in some way.
I am trying to establish some details about a Robert Davison born 1814/1816 in Northshields. He married (maybe) a Jane (possibly Bell) around January 1837 and had 7 surviving children. In 1858 he seems to have married or at least is living with a Catherine (Potts?) born 1813 who had 3 children from a previous marriage. However I am unable to find any record of dates, confirmation of marriage or dates of death etc. I would be most grateful for any help advice or information.

Hello all, gosh that was quick. I am quite certain that this is the correct Robert. He shows in the 1841 census (as Robt) d.o.b. 1816. In the 1851 Census d.o.b. 1816 with wife Jane and children Francis, Mary, Richard, John and Harriott. In the 1861 Census he shows married to Catherine, with children, William Potts, James Smith Davison, George Potts, James Potts, William Davison. I believe that his son James Smith Davison married and had a son Edward Guthrie Davison in 1875 who married Amy Ethel Maud Henderson in 1901. If this line can be confirmed, then I have found my Grand father, Great grandfather and Robert will be my great, great Grandfather. I wonder if the use of Smith as a middle name has any relevance to the Jane Gott Smith mentioned above.
It's looking very hopeful.

Why did I not find this info myself? Am I not looking in the correct places? I know I am new to this, but I feel that I should have found some of it.
