Hello

I've had considerable success with Genes Reunited tracing family - so I thought I'd try my luck with my step-daughters family.

Her Dad is Colin Gibbs (1958-2002) and she says her Grand-parents are Joan and Colin. Her Dad's Mum had the maiden name of Merrills - but I cannot find any marriage between a Joan Merrills and Colin Gibbs.

If anyone could shed some light on this marriage it would be very much appreciated

Hmmmm...Joan is at this address from at least 1952. Colin only appears in 1956 and that is his first year able to vote, so maybe mother and son.

The 1943 marriage is Harry and Lydia.

They are in ight area at right time.

The MMN is recorded as Merrills...........that doesn't mean she married Gibbs in that name. She could have been married before. WW2 was still comparatively recent!

Colin had/has three (possibly four) siblings..........are you aware of these?

Have you actually looked on freebmd for a birth for a Joan Merrills?

Are the grandparents alive?

If not.....when did they die?

Thanks for taking the time to reply everyone. It's possible Joan Merrills did marry before marrying Colin - and I am aware of several siblings. I'm definitely going to order the birth certificate and take it from there.
