I think he was born in Cambridgeshire but that is only family hear say. I know of this marriage my grandmother was born in 1919 dublin Evelyn Sophie chapman.
I would like to know more about this family. I have been told John Chapman died in Nottingham

Do you know anything else about the couple?
Did they live in Ireland or did they come back to Britain?
In which case, where did they settle?
When did they die?
If you can find a death record it should give you their age at the time of death which will help with a birth record.

What you need is a copy of the marriage certificate.
Don't know exactly what info Irish certificates give but it should give you at least the couples ages which will give you their dates of birth.
It will probably also give you their father's names which should help find them in census records.
If Agnes had been married before and her father's name is noted then you will also have her maiden name.

Shot in the dark!

I had a look on 1911 census and this one popped out as a possible:-

He is noted as being a Lance Corporal in the North Staffordshire Regiment!
