Alice Ascroft born BC 5/8/1853 in Ince about 1 mile from Wigan Lancs, mother was Mary Ascroft, no father, mark on BC.
Know lots about Alice at 18 married 19 old Samuel Heyes 2/9/1872 a stone mason / bricklayer and had many childred and a good life from a very difficult start.
Trying to find Mary my GGG parent.
Close match 1861 census Mary char woman head 34, James coal miner 10, Alice 7 and William 5 all born Ince apart from Mary born Pemberton opposite side of town 3 mile away.
Cannot match anythink else on Mary, James and William.
Hope anyone can help.

Looks like Mary's parents were William Ascroft and Jane Fishwick, the later of the marriages I (and also Reggie) posted earlier.

One of Mary's siblings in census 1841 and 1851 as previously posted by Jan was Hester/Esther, aged 3 in 1841, 13 in 1851.

Lancashire BMDs have Esther's mother as [Jane] FISHWICK, not RIGBY.
