There are lots of pre-1855 marriages for Scotland on familysearch but they don't usually give parents' names. There are also births upto about 1875 and these usally give father's name; sometimes mother's first name and quite often her maiden name, especially after 1855. |

Hi Gin thanks for the reply. I have beento Scotlands people website and it does not say anything about what the marriage index does contain except about dates. They onlygive that data for births anddeaths. |

Scottish marr certs after civil registration began (1/1/1855) show the names and MS=maiden surnames of both parents of both spouses (provided known to the couple). |
