I will be ordering the certificates londonbelle, im just seeing some of the family over christmas and just thought if i could establish this before going but i wont get the certificates in time, also just trying to establish which is her first...that birth is the one i think

Brummiejan - I will Print this thread out aswell to actually collate any info ive been helped with so to find it easier later once i have certificates .

I havent been able to find out who the other witness is as keep changing my mind what it say lol...Musloe, Mustoe or something else?!

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 23 Dec 2012 18:28

That's my opinion yes, but I might be a bit biased!
As there is such a lot of info, maybe you need to put it to one side and come back to it later - I find a bit of breathing space can work wonders.
The only other query I have is this - have you managed to sort out who is the witness on the marriage cert, other than the Chilton one?

It might be a matter of getting a birth certificate....the following is a contender as Brentford is a likely registration district for births in Hounslow

Births Dec 1845
Wright Emily Brentford 3 24

ceri

ceri Report 23 Dec 2012 18:01

So the 1861 census for her listed as niece born c1841 Hounslow, and the 1851 census for her listed as Grandaughter born c1836 Hounslow look to be the most correct?

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 23 Dec 2012 17:44

Right, after a quick googlemap search for Stepney/Hounslow, they seem to be about 16 miles apart. So St Georges East doesn't work for birthplace, but having said that she might have been mistaken.

My head is spinning too Ceri!
We have to be a bit careful as the Emily 1851 might not be daughter to Mary, obviously.
I think the Mary 1861 (mother to William, Walter and George) is probably the same as the Mary 1851. And the 2 Emily's are the same person, but her niece not her daughter. If this is your Emily we still do not have her parents. And her birth year is a bit out. But I feel pretty sure that cousin William is the same one who is living with the Chiltons 1881.
Might be significant (maybe!) that they have named a son Walter, if indeed it is your Emily in 1861, so possibly after her cousin - but the name was fairly popular back then unfortunately.
The other choice is the Emily found by Gins. Not sure about that location though, having little knowledge of London areas.

My head is spinning, so are we saying the 1851 census before is not her now? the one where it would appear she was with her mum and grandmother, it said born Hounslow?

Just can't make up my mind about that Cole link Gins.
I think this is the marriage for the couple - I do hope the Alice Wright is a co-incidence or I shall have to go and lie in a darkened room:

brummiejan Report 23 Dec 2012 17:05

Well, it does look like the same family 1851 and 1861, especially given that occupation. The slight anomaly is Mary's birthplace - both say Kent but 1851 says Canterbury, 1861 Ashford.
Obviously we can't be 100% sure this is your Emily, but given William lodging with the Chiltons 1881 I would be willing to go with it. Unfortunately it doesn't tell us who her parents were!
Not sure re. the reg district Gins. bit south for me ... !

Im confused too! Is anyone any good with reg districts in London please?

ceri

ceri Report 23 Dec 2012 16:56

Im confusing myself...So despite the census earlier saying that Emily's mother Mary Wright was unmarried she may well have been married or at least taken fathers name and where i thought it was Mary's mother they were living with it might actually be his mother?

Gee

Gee Report 23 Dec 2012 16:45

I am easily confused Jan!

What about this for her birth? Im not good with reg districts for London

I think that looks promising, i can see this is going to be a sad story with this family :(

EDIT: The Mary Ann Wright on there is a laundress which is what she was on the one we found earlier with Mary Ann Wright, Mary Wright and Emily Wright on?
Only thing is The poss mother we found for Emily on the other one was born abt 1818, and the Grandmother was born abt 1795.
This Mary Ann Wright is described as being born 1821 and aunt of Emily Wright?

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 23 Dec 2012 16:38

Posted that previously Gins - I know why you did, there's a lot here and difficult to sort out!
I proposed that the William G. on that census is the same person lodging with the family in 1881, and perhaps Emily's cousin?
As stated above, he and his brothers are orphaned by 1871 and living in Brentford Workhouse.
I think that 1861 is a strong contender, despite birth year for Emily.
