Hi Gins,

I ordered it last week, not received it yet.

I had to wait for my RAF pension to go in to afford some more... I had bought some for one of my other threads (McKie)

Hopefully get it this week.

Hi Gavin

I thought you were going to order the birth certificate as above?

Gavin

Gavin Report 20 Jan 2013 16:02

Hi all

Wedding cert received; I ordered the cert for the following entry;

Marriage: Thomas White - Dec 1837 - Sheffield vol 22 pg 417

It appears he married a Marion Hodpkinson.... not the Harriet I was looking for.

:-(

Hi Gins

Thanks, I will order it tomorrow.

Any joy in looking at my tree?

Hi Gavin

Taking into account the area in Sheffield that your family lived, you need to be looking under the Sheffield registration district

I'd be inclined to send for this one as a start

Births Sep 1872
--------------------------------------------------
WHITE George William Sheffield 9c 421

If thats not the correct one, my next choice would be this

Births Mar 1871
-------------------------------------------------------
White George William Sheffield 9c 457

I guess the positive slant on this is, there are only two records for Sheffield between 1870- 1875

i am slowly getting a collection of expensive certificates for people I am not related too...

:-)

Looks like you might to have to order a couple more Certs....to rule out.

Try, try, again, lol.

Chris :)

(or perhaps a couple of days spent in the RO for that area)

There was no George Henry listed in 1873... but there was a George William in Sheffield....
If he did change names it could be a possible?
What do you think?

just noticed, on wedding certificate for George Henry White and Voiletta Harriet Horne, the date is 10 march 1895.
Georges age is 22... so he could be born in 1873.

Gavin Report 8 Jan 2013 22:53

Gins

But havent we already proven that he died in october 1925 in Wallsend?
His widow was Violetta Harriet White (nee Horne)

I know you said you were posting that to keep eye on other Whites... is this to eliminate others later?

Cynical....never stop trying

:-D

England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966
Name: George Henry White <<53 Dobcroft Road
Probate Date: 5 Aug 1927
Death Date: 2 Jul 1927
Death Place: Sheffield, England
Registry: Wakefield

To Edith Sarah White, widow.....£1075 7s 1d

Any bells, ringing?

This might mean nothing, in relation to your family Gavin. Posting it to keep an eye on the Whites.....yikes.........The Whites :-0

And, thinking on...Carlise St, was a very working class area (Where your other family lived) as opposed to the above address

Gin

Are these solvable with any real confidence then? or is it guesswork or not likely to be solved??

Gee

Gee Report 8 Jan 2013 22:16

Thanks Chris...

Its a strange one, you know, where people use middle names, drop them or adopt them!

Just trying to work out.... would it have been an overlap to 1871 or 1873 if he was 53 when he died in Oct 1925?

Chris Ho :)

Chris Ho :) Report 8 Jan 2013 21:56

Births Sep 1874 (>99%)
----------------------------------------------
WHITE George Henry Ecclesall B. 9c 338

(might have been other one Gins posted, he does state 1874 on 1911)

Chris :)

(ages on Death Certs. not always accurate)

Just posting the PM from Gavin

I have checked death cert and George Henry White's and he was aged 53 at the time of death (04th October 1925) meaning he was born in 1872.

Anyone, has any info....?

Gavin

Gavin Report 6 Jan 2013 21:07

Hi

2 of the certificates received;

Death Certificate confirms George Henry White died 04/10/1925
Informant is his Widow, Violetta Harriet White (my Great Grandmother)

So I have a confirmed death of my Great Grandfather at 49 Thames Street West in Wallsend, Tynemouth in 1925.

Bad news for the birth certificate; it is for a George Henry White born 18/02/1872 to a Christiana White of Frogatt Lane, Sheffield. No father is identified on the cert so I am assuming he is an illegitimate birth.

I would say either because Garrett is spelt GarrAtt or they didnt marry each other!
