Come County Tyrone, County Antrim is also Northern Ireland, so the following could be a possible:-

Ireland, Births and Baptisms, 1620-1881

Catherine, Thanks for all the infor. I have all but the birth info for Margaret Hamill, that is new info
What I'm looking for is information on my g-aunt's first marriage which I believe took place before she left Ireland. Her NYC marriage cert to husband #2 says she was a widow and her name is listed as Margaret Barnard not Margaret Christy. Her parents on that cert are Margaret Hamill and Thos Christy.
So it is search of husband #1 for Margaret Christy, birth date: 17 Nov 1864
and if I can believe the marriage cert, his surname was Barnard.

It's been awhile since I've searched the Irish records. I stopped because I kept paying for wrong records because I didn't have enough info to pick the more likely choices.

Co. antrim is a possiblity. Thank you so much for your work on this.

Mary...A quick browse through some records show Margaret Christy Barnard's daughter Margaret Barnard aged 17 travelled out to the US arriving 29 Dec,1908..she apparently travelled with her aunt...(havent found out who that was yet) and was going to her mother in NY..next of kin in Ireland was uncle John Christie..Tanamore Moy (small village in Killyman Civil Parish Dungannon Co Tyrone).
Margaret Barnard was stated as being born in the Co Tyrone...
This info may help work out an approx. date of marriage for Margaret Christy....

This would appear to be Margaret with her g.mother 1901

Maybe a baptism record will give you father's name so you don't have to buy the birth certificate, just in case it isn't the daughter of Margaret Christy.

I wonder if this is Margaret arrival in America:-

First Name: Mrs.
Last Name: Barnard
Ethnicity: US Citizen
Last Place of Residence: Liverpool
Date of Arrival: Jun 15, 1892
Age at Arrival: 27y Gender: F Marital Status:
Ship of Travel: Majestic (1890)
Port of Departure: Liverpool & Queenstown
Manifest Line Number: 0069

..................arrival 1892 aged 27yrs, would make date of birth abt. 1865. Also, birth of Margaret (daughter) is noted as 1891 so that would also fit.

Looking at the original copy of the passenger list, she is travelling with her W.H.Barnard (Gent) aged 30yrs. and she is noted as his wife.

First Name: W. H.
Last Name: Barnard
Ethnicity: US Citizen
Last Place of Residence: Liverpool
Date of Arrival: Jun 15, 1892
Age at Arrival: 30y Gender: M Marital Status:
Ship of Travel: Majestic (1890)

You say her second marriage took place in N.Y. but what date would that be?
If she was widowed, then there should be death record for her husband.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 1 Jan 2013 15:04

The W H Barnard and his wife arriving in New York in 1892 were USA citizens.

If Margaret b1864 had married an American would she be deemed a US citizen?

Young Margaret arriving in 1908 states her mother is Margt Barnshaw of 501 West 41 Street, New York.

pm from Mary

"don't know about WH barnard
You have to apply for naturalization to become a citizen.

Margaret Christy Barnard Barnshaw b 1864 was my g-aunt
young Margaret travelling with her may be her dtr Mabel (poss Mabel was a family name for her and not her birth name)
1908 was the year Aunt Margaret's mother died in Tyrone
the NYC address is theirs for sure.

Thank you so much for these details! "

MarieCeleste

Mary - can you tell us the first name of Maggie's second husband? Will help us work back.

What record do you have of Margaret and Mabel travelling together? The only one I've managed to find so far is the one of young Margaret travelling on her own to see her mother who was already there.
