Find Ancestors

Thanks to information given on William clews I have now been able to find out more about his father Thomas .Would love to go back further and find his parents .Have looked in obvious places but not been successfull ,any ideas on whe to go next ? Thomas born 1788 in Coventry and married Mary Ann ,he died in 1872 I think.Thanks.
