Nudge for the 1845 marriage - it should be there!

Hi again, been doing a bit more research into this family - seems as though the George Ferris that was found isn't correct (father's name isn't mentioned on certificate but occupation is given as butler?!)

Regardless, I found numerous deaths for the children of William and Eliza Ferris, along with their deaths . One pension document also mentioned that William and Eliza married in 1845 ... but I can't find any sign of a marriage even though this is after civil registration began.

I presume they were CofI as they children were baptised Presbyterian. Any ideas where I can find their marriage?

No I agree Maura but I am just producing little results and I find it quite difficult. But thank you. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Maura - please don't think me rude but if you can search for more of the family it is highly appreciated. Wow! I'm so glad I got to the PRONI now!

Thank you again for all of your help so far!

I don't know if this is the father, Ferris is a common enough name here.
There no site that has complete BMD's for Ireland
familysearch.org
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rosdavies/
http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/search_the_archives.htm
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
http://www.lennonwylie.co.uk/

site you can search for free, but to view the full record you have to pay
emeraldancestors.com
ancestryireland.com
rootsireland.ie [has the same information as ancestryireland but you can narrow your search by district/parish

Thanks Maura - this is really kind of you. The main concern was that George was born in Saintfield, but the census shows Belfast and Armagh! That is my main concern. Also, have you been able to spot any other siblings? I'm fascinated by all of this new Irish information.

Where are there indexes for me to search this alone?

Maura

Maura Report 7 Jan 2013 12:18

You would have to buy George's marriage cert to see what information is on it. He's blind by 1911 so that could be a reason why he give up being a barber

Peter

Peter Report 6 Jan 2013 21:47

Hi MarieCeleste - I really don't have any more information on William Ferris or Eliza Jane Deans. No birth dates, places or deaths or even marriage. I've looked on Familysearch but nothing jumps out!

Also thank you Moira - really kind of you! Please if you have more information keep it coming ... The Hughes information is great but I'm inclined to say the George Ferris information is not. Is his father mentioned on the marriage certificate?

Thank you again!
