Hi,

I'm looking for more information on Henry C Blacker. He was born around 1900, married to Matilda Atkins (born 1898), they married in 1920. They had 4 children, 3 girls and a boy. Their son Harold Henry Blacker born 1927 was my grandfather.

I seem to be stuck on Henry as there were a lot of Henry Blacker's around that time.

I have ordered Harold's birth cert but this will take some time to arrive and may not shed any light anyway, so any information that you kind people can provide is gratefully received.

Do you have any idea what the "C" stands for?

Do you know when and where they died? Depending when, we can sometimes get their actual birth date from the death index and that can help.

For example, could this be Matilda (mis-spelled!)

you really need to know his age at marriage and his dads name from the marriage cert . otherwise how do you know you are picking up the right birth ??

I'm pretty sure Matilda (known as Tilly) died in 1976 so that is correct. One of Harold's sisters (Pamela) is still alive and I will hopefully be able to contact her soon. Also agree with poster above that the marriage cert could be the clincher. Thanks.

There is a Henry Blacker b1888 Exford , Somerset on the censuses - father is also Henry, a Police Serjeant. If the marriage cert confirms father's name and occupation, we can post the censuses for you - won't do it now as it might cause confusion if wrong.

How have you arrived at his age without the marriage cert, and have you any idea when he died?
