i have my grandads service record how do i find out if he got any medals he was in the navy and served on 4 ships

The Royal Navy Medal Rolls-Campaign,Long Service and Good Conduct medals are on the Ancestry website.

If he might have been awarded a Gallantry Medal, then it should be on the London Gazette website

There are WW1 Medal records on Ancestry for a William Dodge and 2 for a William A Dodge. Do you know his service number, to work out which is the right man?
