Well, from the message received from Jim, looks like he has had contact from one of Rose's descendants in Canada throught the Ancestry tree I contacted for him. He sent a Pm with many thanks for all the help received and is looking forward to comparing notes with the tree owner - they both have lots of into to exchange. So I'll pass on his thanks guys!

Have also had a message from the Ancestry member thanking me for putting them in touch.

So,hopefully, another good ending! :-D

Oh and Eringobragh1916, sorry but I've never heard anything about a Joseph/John Driscoll so I don't think I'll be requiring any information about him. Thanks for your efforts though! :-)

A tree on Ancestry has Rose & Maria and their families - it's also on Mundia which is free to view, although you need to register.

Added: The tree owner is the son of John Stanley Kearns, and grandson of Rose. He is an active member of Ancestry last logged on yesterday. If you want to contact him I can send a message through Ancestry just send me a PM with your e-mail address.

Greenfields was a Roman Catholic School /orphanage run by the CCPS (Catholic Child Protection Soc.) and the Magdeline Sisters .It became an Approved School in the '70s..still standing..I believe its now called Nugent House Care.?

From various reports over the years..not somehwhere you want to read about if you had family there.

Wigan World website had lots written about it.

Many of the children under the CCPS ended up in Canada.."Home Children"...scheme .
May be worth checking the Data Base....
