I am looking for any information on my Grandad Frederick Cook. He married my nan Olive Upton in Walsall in 1932. He died in 1986 aged about 85. As far as I know he lived in Birmingham Warwickshire as a child, the problem is I am having trouble finding out who his parent were as the name Frederick was a popular name around the time he was born. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

He is Frederick W Cook according to the gro index for his marriage.

Marriages Dec 1932 (>99%)
Cook Frederick W Upton Walsall 6b 1456

Do you have the certificate? That should have the name of his father, if known, and the father's occupation.

One of the witnesses might be related to the Cook side.

EDIT - just noticed that this is your first post. Welcome to the Boards :-)

A tree on Ancestry (possibly yours?) has his middle name as William.

Have you considered this BC?

Frederick William Cook
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1900
Registration district: Birmingham
Inferred County: Warwickshire
Volume: 6d
Page: 185

If no one can come up with a suitable census, then it might be best to purchase the MC and take it from there.

Buy the marriage cert for father's name and occupation, or the birth cert for the names of both parents

Didn't you know he had a second name?
