Hi there,

My distant aunt, Catherine McCabe died in 1968.

Catherine McCabe lived at 4 Lower Jackson Street, South Bank when she died and was 87 years old when she died (near Middlesbrough, Yorkshire where she was born). She was interred on 16 January 1968. There should be a memorial on this plot but there are very few on the rest of the plot. Catherine McCabe is buried with two other people although I don't think they will be relations. Mary Reardon was 77 years old when she died and was interred on 20 February 1900 Margaret Thomas was 50 years old when she died and was interred on 10 December 1937.

I'm trying to find out if the two people buried with Catherine are in fact relatives or not?

Catherine was born 1st February 1880 to Patrick and Alice McCabe (nee McClusky). Her parents were Irish immigrants from County Monaghan, Ireland.

I already have a lot of information on Catherine and her siblings and am mainly looking to see if these two women are relatives of hers.

Cheers,

Peter

Peter, have you tried looking for marriages for these women, using any family names you have?

Not sure it is worth getting a cert, but here is Margaret's death reg:

Deaths Dec 1937 (>99%)
Thomas Margaret 50 Cleveland 9d 549

Peter, was this "very distant aunt" married? If so, I presume you've tracked through her husband's family, her marriage, her maiden name, etc, etc.

Although she's distant, could you explain how you've connected in your tree to her, in case we can pick up any clues.

Hi,

She is a ggg aunt of mine - she was born Catherine McCabe but then married TWO men also named McCabe.

Peter McCabe in 1907 who died in WW1 and then John McCabe in 1919.

Sorry but I've not tracked through her husbands families - I ignorantly never thought to do so!

Does this help or hinder?!

Peter, you appear to have some experience as a researcher (a HUGE family given the number of names) and a not inconsiderable number of posts.

I'd suggest you do a bit more research. You're well capable of it and it's much more satisfying than us handing it to you on a plate!! :-)

To be honest Peter, it's almost impossible to search this way round. It's almost always necessary to work backwards isn't it.
You have no idea if they married, to whom, or what their maiden names were if they did marry.
You have the advantage over us of knowing family names, but I think this is very difficult if not impossible, not sure what others feel.
Your only chance as far as I can see is to get their death certs - here is Mary's I would say:

Deaths Mar 1900 (>99%)
Reardon Mary 73 Middlesbro' 9d 466

Have you checked with the cemetery if this was a public or private grave, or how long the lease was for?

If you can't find any relationship between the 3 ladies, may be the plot has been reused?

Hi again and thank you for the advice ... been away for a while without internet but thank you!

I'll see what I can find out!

Cheers,

Hi Catherine - I really don't know. I was given the information by employing a researcher at the archives, so unless they made a mistake!
