There is also this for Anthony snr. Not sure I understand it as it is a different hulk and the column of how he was 'disposed of' is left blank.

Hi , yes they are the same person.

'Warrier' was the hulk on which they were imprisoned before being transported on the 'Barrosa'.

BUT the 1861 marriage in Victoria for Thomas actually looks good as they had a son named Job, which was a family name...found a possiblde death in the same area in 1885 aged 85, bit out but who knows, if was illiterate he may have lost track haha!

:-)

Now just James, Anthony & Wm to work out!

alviegal - with the Thos record you posted- is 'Warrior' the UK ship and then Barrosa the actual transport ship? (ie do the 2 records refer to the same fellow?)

Cherilyn

Cherilyn Report 12 Jan 2013 07:51

Yes that's them alviegal, thank you. I don't think Anthony snr made it here, can't find him so maybe he died before the ship left the UK?

Thanks Gins and Ann...you have given me more to go on with.... :-)

EDIT: Just checked out the Thos who married Mary CAMPBELL in Tassie and he arrived aboard 'Surrey.' Though there was a Thos WEBB who arrived on 'Marmion' (same as Anthony) so now it has me wondering...he applied to marry Frances ELSOM (arr 'Majestic') in 1840.

Seeking information please on several convict brothers, sons of Anthony WEBB of Oxfordshire.

I have found permissions to marry for one but no idea if he married one or both (or neither!)

He was Anthony WEBB (b. c1800), arr on 'Marmion' - permission to marry Mary WICKS (arr 'Siren') in 1838 then permission to marry Ann BURTON (arr 'Hydery') in 1840!

I have a likely death for him in Victoria aged 61 in 1861 but no trace of a family.

His brothers were Jas (c1802, arr 'Susan'), Thos (c1804, arr Barossa?), and Wm (c1812, also 'Susan'). Another brother, Robert c1817, died on the 'Susan'.

Any help tracking them down much appreciated! Thank you.

:-)
