Hi, thanks for reply. I did post on Victorian Wars forum, when I saw someone else was enquiring, but didnt have all the correct information. It turned out to be the son of a cousin who I didn't know. Unfortunately he didnt have any extra information. I have looked at James Sanson miiitary record, and that is where his date of death, place and ship, HMS O rion comes from.It didnt say he was killed on board. I wonder if there would be more detail in the ships log, as to his manner of death and where he would have been buried. |

I was wondering how I can find out more information on the death of my g-grandfather James Sansom. He was serving aboard H.M.S Orion and he was killed by persons unknown. His record has D.D. on it which I have been told means discharged dead. His family ended up in the workhouse. Would there be more information on his death anywhere? Grateful for any help. |
