He was illegitimate then! I just found the family on the 1881 census as a mixture of Masons and Mills. Emma Mason is spouse to Henry. I wonder if Ellen was a sister? |

Catherines Hurleys are a nightmare as well, on the 1901 census the same page as George and Catherine with their small family is another Catherine Hurley Widow living with a Son Jerimiah. My Mother in Law is convinced this is Catherine jnrs Mother, but I can.t find any previous absolute proof as Hurley and various spellings are so common, and Ellen disappeared. The family had memories of a Aunt Ellen who didn't marry but all I've found is an Ellen Hurley in an ophanage and no Catherine and Catherine together as I said a nightmare |
