Had the birth certificate for apl-may- june ,but the wrong mother's name . he was baptised after the census but was born
on14th march

Tried to find birth or baptism of William H Huxtable /Thomas . No Huxtable but found two William H thomas for 1881 One Apl-May- june , one Jul -Aug Sep The census was 3rd April and he is listed as 1 month old on that so both are too late . Cannot find Baptism for Apl- May- june . found Baptism for July- Aug- Sep 1886 but mother is wrong .

What makes it more difficult is the Thomas Name
. . Margarets maiden name was Thomas .
In 1886 she married George Thomas from Swansea (Different family)Also the family that Great-grandad claimed that his real father( not Huxtable) was from were Thomas :-S

I tried the census either side There are a number of John Huxstables, but not born in Oxfordshire , it is in the county of Devon I think and there are a few in Devon ,but I don't know which is correct and it's costing me to try all of them

yes St Aldates is correct but the transcript definitely says St Ardales. But there is NOT a birth in Oxfordshire that matches :-(

I googled Saint Ardales , but it came up with Saint Aldates Oxford . Some transcritptions have errors cause of misreading the old writing on the census . looked on the census and saint ardales does seem right

Incidentally, can anyone find St Ardales Oxfordshire? Or indeed a birth in Oxfordshire for him?

The Cardiff Arms was a hotel...gave its name to the (later) stadium

The Cardiff Arms Hotel gave its name to Cardiff's famous sports stadium, the Arms Park. This mail-coach house was known earlier as Red House, when it was constructed for Sir Thomas Morgan at the time of Charles I.

Staff at Bridgend library were extremely helpful when I contacted them about locations in their broader area.
I don't know what resources they hold there, but they would probably be able to help in some way.

Been looking up census's. I have the 1901 Sutton farm with Head: Edward Thomas and Wife Jane Thomas with five Children. Also 1881 census with Edward and jane in Saint Athans
Story in the family is that John Huxtable was a gardener at the farm , but he was paid to claim the children as his ,when actually they were fathered by one of the Thomas family . . Either the Head of the house,or one of the sons .The 2 year old John on the 1881 census is my Great grandfather .
Now I am more confused as it seems the Thomas family were not at Sutton farm until after 1881 John was born in 1879
I have got his infomation on another thread here as i have been trying to find his wedding
