Looking for information on George Sanderson born in Shoreditch about 1860, fathers name John, mother name Mary. He married in 1903 age 42 to Eleanor Louisa Hill nee Southwell, but on the married certificate he was down as a widower. Who did he marry the first time? He is also missing on the 1881 censors, where did he go? I have now come to a dead end and do not know where to look next, does anybody have any suggestions please.

On the marriage certificate he was a Printer, and the date was the 4th July 1903 but it definately says Eleanor Louisa and her fathers name Stephen Southwell, Coach Builder. I also have Eleanors first marriage certificate to a Henry Christmas Hill dated the 31st July 1886

Is this right?
Eleanor married Henry Hill in 1886 but he died in 1888
She was living with George Sanderson In 1891 as wife but they did not marry until 1903. So who was his first wife?

Thelma it was George Sanderson that she married in 1903. Southwell was her maiden surname.

She and George were together on the 1891, 1901 and 1911 census.

Yes, Eleanors first marriage to Henry Hill was in 1886 and he died in 1888, then I would assume that George was still married then so that is why on Dorothys birth certicate her surname is Hill and not Sanderson and does not have a fathers name on it. But later on she is down as Sanderson.

I'm wondering then if this is George in the 1861 census? The initial 'T' looks like a 'J' to me on the image for the Head of the family..... his occupation looks to be Printer

Thank you all for your input. I did get the marriage certificate of Mary Ann Clenshaw but the father of George Sanderson was a William Sanderson a Cabinet Maker.

If he had married in 1876 would he had been very young at 16???

But I would love to know where he was in 1881, is there any possibility that he could have been in prison or the like, and would they have a census done in there?
I just do not know where to look next.
