Hello everyone
I really appreciate your help and interest in this. Cynthia, you were very kind to point me in the right direction in finding replies on here.
I have contacted a member on here about her tree, but haven't heard back yet.
Flip, I've not been able to find any siblings of Joseph, or any other links apart from his children, first and second wife and the single archive I've found with a statement of James Stirling as his father.
If there is anything else that comes to light, I would love to hear from you!!

Sarah, do you know if Joseph had any siblings, or have you found him on earlier census returns? Have you got his marriage certificate to Elizabeth, for more details - if so could you post them please?

No Mel, not seeing him in 1851
but not seeing a birth for him either so my guess is that his mother married James Stirling and changed Joseph's name after 1851

Mel, I can't see him prior to 1871 either - no birth or census. But he didn't waste much time in re-marrying!

Hello
I'm starting to research my Stirling family line and have 4 generations already. My great great grandfather is Joseph Edgar Stirling believed to have been born in 1850 and married Elizabeth Christy in 1871. All this took place in Bolton, Lancashire. I'm trying to extend beyond this to Joseph's Father James. I only have his name and no other details and would like to be able to go further into the tree.
