Jacquline Report 19 Jan 2013 22:54

thanks kath will have to get cert will it say if he was divorced?

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 19 Jan 2013 22:57

It should say if he was divorced - HOWEVER, very few people could afford divorce at that time and it was incredibly difficult to get, so most ordinary working class couples would mostly just separate and perhaps go on to live with another partner as man and wife.

In this case though, he married Elsie so he was either a widower or divorced or married bigamously - IF the family are correct in thinking that he was married before.

There is a marriage that could possibly be that of Marian if the birth that MistyCat posted is the correct one. I will send the details by p.m.
