I think John Aspland is just a random name, used as an example of someone in that workhouse

Thanks for the help. I am looking for my great, great grandfather - Thomas Roberts who moved to London from Gamlingay and he disappears from the census returns in 1871. His wife died in 1876 in the smallpox hospial in Islington, she too is missing from the 1871census and I wondered if they were in a workhouse.

(had a look round last night, but no luck)

Do you know where son Stanley was born?, as 1881 now says Caxton.

Was looking for Thomas on 1861, but couldn't see him, Fanny in Gamlingay.

Chris :)
