I only have mothers name and date of birth there is no image (scots people) the 1911 census has her with her father and siblings but has her (grandmother) as mary ann and not mary but the year of birth is correct. mum does not know anything about her mum except she was married to george wallace and that she died 1938 in hospital i think she may have died in the workhouuse/hospital on inverkip rd. im beginning to think the mary ann is not her and that i have not actually found her on any census. She had older siblings (mother sarah wallace) -when will wee have access to the next census?

Have you got your Mothers birth certificate from Scotlands people?

That is indeed correct - regarding Scotland

Only Scotlands People has the Scottish 1911 census..and Scottish BMD's

Ancestry has Irish BMD's for later years

The Irish 1901 and 1911 censuses are FREE.....google for the URL

moody blue- have just joined ancestry on trial but it looks like you cant get anything from scotland or ireland after 1901 is this correct?

brumiejan -she was married to george wallace but i cant find the marriage on there.
moodyblue-that looks like them and it matches some of the 1911 census but on her death cert her mother was mary. Is this from scots people.......im beginning to see that the names differ alot (i think) I dont know how to do this without spending alot of money. I dont seem to be able to find marriages etc im guessing its my search selection...is it ok to always put in all districts .

Fiona - have you looked on Scotland's People?

I am trying to find correct parents (and siblings etc) of my grandmother Mary Maguire born 1897 ?lanarkshire ?ireland. A death cert which seems to be most accurate has peter maguire as father (born ireland) which lead me to a census 1911 which has her mother mary maguire deceased but i cant read her mothers maiden name (on the death cert) Actually getting in a bit of a muddle and have ended up with several census which i now think incorrect. (i started off searching mcguire until i got hte death certificate
Any help would be greatly appreciated
