Researching great grandparents, all I can find is Kate's death record in 1927, and 1901 and 1911 censuses, in both of which Kate is already widowed. She and her children born in Portsmouth, husband Joseph was an engine room artificier in R.N. Youngest child Violet born February 1894, so presumably Joseph was still alive early 1893. Can you help please? |

This looks like the marriage record (although Kate's husband's name seems to be missing) but you could still order the certificate and get his father's name if he knew it:- |

Thank you very much, that gives me more to go on. Know nothing about Joseph, but will order the marriage certificate and hope that gives me a little more info about him. |

Joseph Biggs had son Benjamin born 1821 Beckington, Somerset, and daughter Sarah (married name Benger). Ben married Caroline Hill in Dilton, Wiltshire in 1841. They had daughters Mary, Elizabeth (died young), Matilda and Jane and sons Jesse, George, Frederick, Frank,Sidney, Edwin,Jude and Joseph Henry (MY G Grandfather). Joseph Henry married Kate Emma Thompson in Hampshire and they had children Violet Mabel, Henry Joseph (Harry) and Sidney Benjamin (my grandfather). |

I think the maritime death that Chris posted is correct. Looking at the original image he was listed as a passenger, newspaper reports from the time have him listed as a naval passenger so it seems to tie in with the other info. |
