Only one I found on 1901 is for an Alfred Shepherd.

Get the marriage cert for the name and occupation of his father

Unfortunately, i can't spot Alfred in the 1901 census.

I will take another look tomorrow...............but as GB said......you might need to purchase a copy of the marriage cert to be able to get back further.
