HI i'm looking for Ann Mcmanus bc1800 Ireland poss dublin on the 1871 uk census. She died 1880 paddington workhouse. She is listed as contact for her grandchildren prior to 1871 so must be in the uk somewhere, her husband is Patrick Mcmanus but i have no idea whether he came to the uk or not so she may/may not be with him. Also if anyone has 5 mins and would be kind enough to look for a marriage for Patrick Mcmanus to Ann? i would be very grateful. Their daughter Bridget b1835 married Charles Hall in 1857 St Pauls Dublin and on that her address is Hendrick St, i don't know if it's poss to find an electoral role or census prior to this to see if there were any other siblings? Any info on this Mcmanus family would be really appreciated!! many thanks Helen

Hi Helen. Apart from where she died, do you have any idea of location? For example, where were the rest of the family? Jan

If she is listed as a 'contact' for her grandchildren - is there not a contact address ?
When was this and who were her grandchildren please?

SAFC my apologies for not staying online but i was dealing with the police on a matter with my neighbour. WOW what a lot of info!! To put the story in context the grandchildren were in an orphanage and Ann is listed as their grandmother so no adresses etc :-( Ann was claiming poor relief in the paddington area prior to her death so i would assume she was living in that area. I only know Anns details as in the childrens register it lists that grandma died and gave the date. re the marriage a birth for bridget i don't think they are the right people :-( this would make bridget their eldest or only child and at age 35+ this seems unlikely also marrying 2 years after brdgets DOB would seem unlikely too as i believe they were strick catholics. The marriage for Bridget to Charles is DEF the right one though!! I have details after the children go into care and death dates for Bridget and Charles but would love to get back further and put in the missing pieces for Patrick and Ann. I have Ann death cert and there is nothng on there to help as she died in the workhouse and it was reported by them as no family members were left. i always knew it was a long shot :-( many thanks to all for looking xxxx
