Find Ancestors

I may go to the local library at the weekend and trawl through all the Matthews , no surname, who knows, I might strike lucky :-)

The name(s) must be really badly transcribed on the 1841 ............ at least on ancestry.

There is just no sign of Matthew!

It looks like John E O Edmondson is the child of Elizabeth Oates

Thank you for the 1861/1871 census. I didn't have these. I've just realised I was looking at the wrong entry for 1881 because it says Isabel is a widow and that she was born 1825. I've now found the right entry and there is only Matthew and Isabella. :-)

Thank you all for the above. Isabella was a widow when she married Matthew, she was married to Edward Oates who died. John and Mary are Matthew's parents. I am always very cautious about Ancestry trees because most of the ones I look at are mostly wrong. Thnaks again. :-) I will keep looking for them in 1841.

I couldn't find him on the 1841 Census ..... I did however find an Isabella Oates with husband on the 1841.

That leads me to believe that Isabella was a widow when Matthew married her



I also found the following from a Public Family Tree .................... which of course has to be checked out very carefully before you accept it all as true.

I am looking for Matthew on the above two census. Born 1810 Auckland district, Co Durham. He married Elizabeth Moor in 1832 at St Andrews church Auckland. They had Jane baptised 1833. Elizabeth died 1843 and Matthew remarries Isabella Oates at St Helens church, Auckland. They had at least one son called Thomas born 1847 (I got this bit off the 1881 census) and there is a daughter called Isabella born 1849. On the 1851 census on FMP index there is an Isabella in Auckland region. Could someone please take a look at both census. Thank you.
