Sarah, is Thomas Shield second wife but the child was born before and he dissapears from that family and ends up with another one, so very confusing. |

But Sarah and Thomas were married in 1841 - if it's the correct Sarah! So he wasn't born before - he was born 8 years later! |

Umm, blonde moment, you see this Thomas Shield had 2 wifes, and 3 children out of wedlock, 5 children with Isabella and 6 with Sarah. Thomas Humble Robson was born out of wedlock, In 1851 he is with Thomas and Sarah, 1861 with a family called Mitchell first described as a border but in later census's same family listed as Step Grandson, and I believe a cousin on another one, so very confusing. |

What Mother's maiden name not available before 1911...means that ALL births after 1911 will have the mmn stated. It was not backdated! So only way to find parents names is buy the certificate |

Mike that's what I posted earlier...and a;though I didn't say it I did wonder if he was a daughter's child. Mary Robson as posted in 1861 is annotated on A as Mary Mitchell but can't find anything to connect her in marriage to a Robson |
