Sue...

In no way do you owe me an apology, we all have/do make mistakes ( well most of us!!) I sure have and if it wasnt for the kindness and patience of some lovely people on here...I would never have sorted some of my "messes" out...wrong directions were (still are at times) my speciality....

Please do not let harsh word's put you off asking for help....I am more than happy to do what I can and besides, I enjoy a jolly good "hunt"

The marriage info I posted was taken from Ancestry.

I hope you have benefitted from learning that you had made an error.....if you have, no-one's time was wasted.

Susan Report 6 Feb 2013 10:34

To all . I am sorry for wasting your time. I assure you it wasnt deliberate. I only asked a question about a marriage certificate and no doubt in time I may have realised I was going the wrong direction. I can only spend a little time researching . However thankyou for being direct and telling me. I still cannot find all the info that you all seem to be able to pick up so you obviously have better resources. However i will not waste any more of your time

Thank you misty for your imput

There is no need now to get the marriage cert for Henry and Harriett

The details have been posted.....more than once.

But if you'd got the cert when you first started looking for this, you'd have saved yourself - and others - from looking in entirely the wrong direction

You can't manipulate info to try to get it to fit ............

Work on the facts as presented

Susan,
The information that Mistycat posted has already been posted on page 1.
People are going around repeating what others have found because assumptions were made.
Buy some certificates.
Do not assume anything.
(And why must he have had siblings - have you not noticed any only children during your research? Though, in this case, it looks like he does have them)

Well it's bugged us now too, chasing the wrong info.

PLEASE start with a birth certificate of one of the children then the marriage cert and work backwards from the info about Henry's father. ( his occupation might help )
Sometimes witnesses can be a clue

Susan

Susan Report 6 Feb 2013 00:22

Glitterbaby

I only have the birth certificate of Thomas who was one of Henrys and Harrietts Sons - my gt gt grandfather. All of that is on the 1871 census and onwards but again nothing before

Susan

Susan Report 6 Feb 2013 00:19

Mike
That 1871 census you showed is correct

Susan

Susan Report 6 Feb 2013 00:17

Hi Mike

A blip on my part probably. I had worked on all the Henrys but nothing came up that I could see as his father and I wondered if the names had been swapped around as later down the line I had a relative that did just that. Added on to the lack of any info. He must have had siblings . I have looked at all sorts of theories - illegitimate children. adoptives, orphans etc. This has been bugging me for 18 months

If the Sarah Hammond who died was the wife of William, she is not connected to Henry................HIS father was named as HENRY, and wasn't said to be 'deceased' in 1865, which means he probably existed, and wasn't fabricated to save face

The marriage record shows the witnesses both to be Harriett's realtions

GlitterBaby Report 6 Feb 2013 00:07

Do you have a birth cert to confirm that Henry married Harriet Seal

Mike *

Mike * Report 6 Feb 2013 00:05

Why did you think Henry's father was William ?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 6 Feb 2013 00:04

Probably not connected in any way, but an interesting record.

I wonder how they knew their ages, but not their names...................
