Thank you safc.
I have been following your lead to Family Search.
Seems there two Francis Irvines (Ervine)
Either I have found another generation or the dates I had to use were in error

I'm almost certain that the Samuel 1874 was my Grand Father
He named his daughter,my Father's elder sister Rose

Eringobragh1916 Report 6 Feb 2013 16:43

Am I looking at the right family here?
Samuel Irvine and Sarah Margaret McLarnon who married in Belfast 1910?

If so, Samuel b 1874 must have been married before because Samuel jnr on this return was born circa 1908 and is not from his marriage with Sarah Margaret McLarnon
Samuel Irvine married Sarah Margaret McLarnon in Belfast 1910.
They appear on the 1911 census at 2 Osbourne Street, Duncairn, Antrim.
The census confirms that they were married less than 1yr
Both Samuel Snr and Samuel jnr are Methodist yet wife Sarah Margaret is Church of Ireland and.... Sarah Margaret has NO children born or living.

Can you confirm that I am looking at the correct family?
Are you certain of your dates as originally posted?

EDIT:
I put the 1910 marriage onfo into a search on Rootsireland and can confirm that the father of the groom was called FRANCIS IRVINE

Your'e looking at the correct family,my Grand Parents.
I was aware of the child, died in infancy
May have been born out of wedlock as I am aware of no earlier marriage for Samuel Irvine b1874 - 1940

GlasgowLass Report 6 Feb 2013 17:55

I have worked this out.
The child on the 1911 census died in 1913 and the name was reused for a 2nd child in 1918.
I don't know who was this 1907 child's mother.

The reused name Ann was given to my Father Samuel Galway Irvine b1918 - d1990

David

David Report 6 Feb 2013 18:07

That fact that it was reused suggested to me that Samuel b1907 was born out of wedlock, but I may be wrong.

thank you Eringobragh.
Same street where Samuel and Sarah lived, before Arosa Parade

I apologise Eringobragh
The pc I was using some time ago was compromised and I got rid of it,without backing up the important bits.
Sorry if I have inconvenienced any one.

GlasgowLass Report 6 Feb 2013 20:50

David,
Whilst it's possible Samuel G Irvine 1907-1913 was possibly born out of wedlock, the 1911 census info shows he is not Sarah's son.
At 1911, she had not given birth to any children at all.

I am not sure if Samuel snr was his father.
I put the info into another search on rootsireland.
The childs birth or baptism is there, but it doesn't match to a father called Samuel, nor does it match to a mother called Sarah.

David

David Report 6 Feb 2013 20:57

That is a mystery Anne
Thank you for looking.
Perhaps it belonged one of my GF's sisters?
Not impossible.

I only started my family tree after both parants died and I got the initial information from birth, marriage and death certificates.
