To find out the names of the child's parents, you will need to obtain the birth cert. BUT.......the birth you saw was approx 6 months before their marriage

There are no baptisms on Ancestry for children of the marriage

And, as you can see, there is no record of a child with them in 1901

This is John in 1881 with sister Margaret who lives next door on the 1901 census (Read). On this census they are liiving at 13 Hunter Street which is I'm pretty sure what he recorded on the 1911 census and which was subsequently crossed out by enumerator. Not sure where the 'Eliza' comes into this.

Difficult to read but looks like originally was written

l
Little hoole S Bermondsey for John who is a general dealer ( fruit),

and - maybe Minories East for Eliza ( corrected to Whitechapel)

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 6 Feb 2013 20:27

The bride missing from that 1895 marriage appears to be Annie Elizabeth Reid. Looks likeshe and John Henry Laws had three attempts at marrying, finally succeeding 22 Dec 1896.

Married 14 years which fits date of 1898 marriage and John's occupation at that time of General Dealer. No children.
