Ron the only link I can see is the one between Harry Reuben Vale b 1864, the son/nephew (1871/1881 census) of John Vale b 1817 Stamford le Hope and

Harry Reuben's father, Reuben (b 1833-d1869) who married Rebecca Bull in 1855. Father's name for Reuben given as John.

The 1841 census has John (b1792) Essex living with wife Charlotte and sons Elijah b 1830 and son Reuben (b1833).

You may be able to get confirmation on the SEAX site that John 1817 is the son of John by his first wife. They do have baptisms for Stamford le Hope.

Have hit a brickwall on this, and a resurrection from the initial query some years back
Known Can trace my side back to John Vale B1792 Bucktbury (Buttsbury?) My GGGgrandfather
Known Confirmed he was a widower in 1828 when he married
Need to find a link between him and John Vale b 1817 in Stifford or Stanford-le-Hope ( both shown in census)
Known His marr cert shows his father as John Vale -Labourer,not much i know, but later census shows both Johns as being employed in GasWorks ( as were several of his(1817) offspring), so a possible link there
There is a link with my Ggrandfather, whose father died in the 1860's and is shown on subsequent census as Son then nephew of John Vale(1817) (which he would have been as his father would have been Johns Step brother,if the link can be made)
I have ruled out the John(1792)marriages shown on the Mormon site, and my visit to the Essex records office, very early in my searches and as a novice, didnt find any marriages for John nor any birth/baptism notes for John (1817). As a consequence, no details of any female Vale deaths could be confirmed.
The trail cannot be traced back via John(1817) line as it appears no one is researching it back that far, although it looks like someone has got one of his grandchildren.
So if anyone really likes a challenge ,or can give me some good pointers/leads. i would be grateful
