Both Bovey Tracy and Ilsingston are in the Deanery of Moreton. You might have to spring for a CD/book of burials to try to trace Samuel. If any of them have marriages in your time frame, that would be an added bonus.

There are 2 more children baptised to a Samuel Tickell and Sarah.
Sarah 25/2/1830 and Mary 16/3/1832 at Hen St Baptist Bovey Tracy.

Don't know if it's the same family or not.

May complicate this even more.

Re the Ian Full's post - its easy to get multiple Samuel's muddled up!

Pity you haven't been able to find Sarah's 2nd marriage, assuming she did. Even if it was prior to civil registration, the names of witnesses might have given a clue to William Gale

A google result gives this which you may already have seen?

http://courbrittfamily.wordpress.com/2013/01/19/coysh-quoshe/

There is no mention of 'Tickell' but probably ties in with the Coysh (Quoshe) side of the family somewhere. Using a surname as a middle name usually implies a maiden name some where further back.

Do you know an Ian Full? He made a post about Samuel Tickell born 7 April 1799 Bovey Tracey. He has Samuel marrying a Jane Tarring in the 1800s.
