Can anyone find the marriage between Henry Samuel Elliott and Ellen Chick c 1893 please?( for her fathers name)

So sorry,confusion here about name HENRY SAMUEL ELLIOTT m ELLEN CHICK.

Mary, GB said he's signed the 1911 as Henry Samuel and that there was no way she could see it as Thomas. The Electoral Rolls posted also show him as Henry Samuel.

Researchers above say he's Henry Samuel Thomas on 1911 census, also on birth cert.

Oh OK, I see now. So her father was only named as Henry Thomas? (No Samuel)

From birth cert of Gladys Elliott b 1905,child of Henry Thomas and Ellen Chick,living in Hither Green ( all census info above)

Sorry Mary, but who's birth cert is that info from?

Ok have birth cert,ELLEN CHICK b Ilminster c 1872(1901census) .Bmd doesn't have marriage to Henry Samuel Thomas., but possible births (Chick a Somerset name).i can't be sure of her in 1881 or 1891 census.( plenty of Chicks in Deptford ) Help please!( her first child b 1893. )

if you get the above Certificate (or any other of children) you will get Maiden name of Mother, which hopefully will help find the Marriage...


Until then it is difficult to work back accurately...(as you can see from above, it's looking like Henry had middle name of Samuel, not Thomas)

Arthur Elliott and family must have inherited the family home of 10 Elthruda rd ,Hither Green which is known to the present day grandson, son of Gladys Elliott on 1911census.Frederick Elliott was killed in WW1.

Henry t in 1871 is Henry Thomas ( I found his birth) who is married to Ellen in 1901 census.Ellen is from Ilminster but I can't link any such Ellen by marriage to Henry T.Please can you ?

Just had a look at the 1911 census for Henry and wife Ellen

Looks more like Henry Samuel on image - the signature on bottom right.

Can not make that read as Henry Thomas at all.



Mary are you related to anyone on that 1911 census ? Because you might be following the wrong family

Henry S Elliott b 1871 Deptford is on 1891 census with parents of George and Elizabeth

That has thrown a spanner in the works.

So are we all looking for Henry Thomas or Henry Samuel Elliott born 1871
