Protestant is not a religion in itself, so you still have to know which exact church they belonged too, or you'll be wasting alot time if you only here for a couple of days. There a regular bus service to and from Ballyclare to Belfast daily.

Hi Potty, I'm actually flying over to meet cousins I've not seen in a long time and won't have any transport and only staying for a few days. Don't want to impose too much on relatives. Thanks.

Heather, Ballyclare, Antrim is in Northern Ireland, not too far from Belfast.

Hi to both Catherine and Reggie that is definitely the right Helena. I've got that information. It's just trying to find out more about her mother and father and their ancestors. Any help would be great.

HI Maura, Thanks for replying so promptly. I should have added that it's Southern Ireland I'm going to so I wouldn't be able to get to Belfast. I just thought as I would be near Ballyclare I would maybe be able to try some of the churches there. As far as I know they were protestant. I will give some of your links a go and see how I get on. Do you think I wouldn't be able to find out anything from Ballyclare?

Registration didn't began until 1864 & noncatholic marriage from 1845, so its church records you need to find. PRONI in Belfast Titantic quarters hold copies of church records, but you will have to know what religion they where. They also hold some graveyard records. If it BMD's you want after 1864 then you have to go to GRONI in Belfast Oxford House Chichester street.

Some information from proni that may help you

In the1881 census there is an Edward Taylor 1 and then in the 1891 census there is an Edward Currie Taylor 5 who I'm sure is my grandfather. Could it be that the Edward in 1881 died and then they named another child with the same name

It's more about Helena's father Edward and her mother Eliza Campbell I'm trying to find out about. All I know are their names. I can't find out anything about dob. I know they married in 1838 in Ballyclare Co. Antrim but I can't find anything about their parents either.

Hi Heather

When you say looking for relatives, do you mean ancestors or living people?

Heather

Heather Report 8 Feb 2013 16:20

I'm trying to find relatives of Helena Currie, Corry, Curry born Ballyclare, Co. Antrim, Ireland in 1845. Her father was Edward Curry, mother Eliza Campbell. Helena moved to Scotland and married Thomas Taylor. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
