In need of some real help!! Ive hit a wall with an ancestor of mine and i cant seem to find any info anywhere!
HANNAH MARIA HUGHES born 1887 in Gosport Hants.
Married GEORGE SAMUEL MINNELL( d.o.b 1880) in 1908 portsmouth.

this is where it gets weird..
in the 1911 census the only GEORGE MINNELL i can find is living in HAYLING ISLAND (which is only 14 miles away from portsmouth) as a boarder with a ANNIE MINNELL born in 1886 in GOSPORT? married 2 years..(all seems to add up expect her name has changed from hannah to annie?) they have 1 living child WINIFRED MINNELL born 1910 in HAYLING ISLAND...

From there it gets pretty easy again they go on to have another 4 children..
GEORGE S MINNELL born 1913 and died 1913 portsmouth
VIOLET M MINNELL born 1914 portsmouth
WINIFRED MINNELL born 1917 Mile end old town LONDON??
(what were they doing in london??)
Winifred died in 1933 in SOUTHAMPTON.
JOSEPHINE P MINNELL born 1919 portsmouth died 2006.
MAGDALINE MARY MINNELL born 1928 still living..

GEORGE S MINNELL died in 1936 PORTSMOUTH
and HANNAH MARIA HUGHES went on to marry another 3 times to as in order..
GEORGE E ROWE in 1939 in portsmouth George died in 1948
ROBERT P ROSS in 1951 in portsmouth Robert died in 1963
WILLIAM C JEFFERYES in 1966 in portsmouth William died in 1980

HANNAH DIED IN 1972 PORTSMOUTH.
There is alot of rumour in the family that hannah used diffrent names, had alot more husbands than what i have here, and was a biggamist? she is also led to believe that she had ALOT more children ive heard 18? before.. As you can see im really stuck and if anyone has any information or can help me it would be much appriciated thankyou
Hannah :-D

Hannah/Annie was quite often interchangable

Born in 1887, her child-bearing years would have been virtually over by the time her first husband died, so any children other than those you have found must have been born out of wedlock.

The second and subsequent marriages are all in her previous married name(s).

Don't take too much notice of 'rumour'.............it is often just that, and quite often malicious.

The only appreciable 'gap' in the children of the marriage to Minnell is between 1919 and 1928

The idea that she had 18 simply doesn't seem feasible...........the maths doesn't work.

I did think that 18 was a huge number of children! A lady did approach us last year on here saying her father was one of the "un explained children" and that he was left with his father as hannah left them, (this was somewhere is surrey i think?) between that 1919 and 1928 period.. if it was just her that i would probably ignore it but it seems to be a huge family trait.. having unexplained children and leaving them seems all the women have done it, and everythings a huge secret. crazy family lol :-)
