I've tried the Aberdeen University emigrants site without success for this couple. Someone suggested she died in Chicago in 1899 but I have been unable so far to find out when and if they emigrated. |

William's arrival in USA? He's a baker, same as 1870 census: |

Marvellous. Thanks all. I'm very pleased to see that young William got married. |

Margee....yes, it's probable that Williamdid go to the U.S. and return. With the advent of fast steam ships it was quite common for people to spend a "season" in the U.S. returning home for the off season! Skilled tradesmen often did this. Thanks Hun! :-) |

Actually, these Williams don't fit with the birth date, (1857) taken from the Scottish census so it's probably not him. I'll keep an eye out for him. Just glad to have confirmed John and Helen. |

But on the 1861 Scotland census he's 14 making him born 1847. Also he's living with John & Eleanor in Chicago in 1870, aged 23. |

I have young William born c 1857 in my Robb tree, but I admit I may be mistaken. He seems to be from a previous marriage of John Dundee. I was mostly concerned to confirm that the family had actually emigrated. I have many "lost sheep" in my tree! |
