Hi,

Can anyone help with the following?

My ancestor John Thomas Morby (b, 1867 in Colmworth, Beds) who married Alice Hobbs (b. 1866 in Bristol) probably travelled to Wellington, New Zealand on the ship Turakina from London 18 Apr 1906. The ship arrived 5 Jun 1906. I say probably because the document only has their intitials ie J T Morbey and A Morbey, the ages are correct but the person travelling with them is documented as L Morbey. It should be S Morbey (their daughter Sarah Ann). A small error possibly, or I could have the wrong couple.

I would like to confirm that this is John and Alice and find out what happened to them after they arrived at Wellington.

Any suggestions for tracking them down would be greatfully received.

Researching descendants of John Mawbey and Henrietta Simpson who lived in Colmworth, Bedfordshire. John was born around 1802. The surname spelling changed through Moorby to eventually settle on different branches with either Morby, Morbey or Moorbey. Spread includes Cambridgeshire, Midlands, Manchester, Devon/Cornwall, Buckinghamshire and London.
