Could any kind person tell me anything about the following 4 children who were born to Charles and Gertrude (nee Smith) WRIGHT between 1898 and 1904 please: Charles and Gertrude were married on 23 Feb 1898 in India. Their children -

I cannot trace what became of any of them. Any help would be appreciated please.

Hi George, No I don't. For some reason I thought they were all still in India. Charles Wright was the first husband of my grandmother's sister but she died soon after the birth of a son - Charles Frederick Wright in 1895. 3 years later he married Gertrude and I don't know who brought up the son of my aunt although he did appear at the military establishment in Woolwich aged 15 on the 1911 census.

The family you show is definitely them. and there it was all the time. THanks so much. I thought I would have to find some Indian records from somewhere. I thought we stayed there until the split in 1948. regards, Jennifer

George_of_Westbury Report 14 Feb 2013 17:13

Just to add

On the original census image it states they had 7 children and one had died by 1911

Is this the correct Charles Frederick ?

Charles F Frederick Wright
Birth 07 May 1895 in Quetta India (now Pakistan)

Death 21 Feb 1981 in Southampton

Charles Wright 1870 –
Elizabeth Bass 1870 – 1895

Marriage to Florence Mary Day
14 Mar1926
Colaba, Bombay India

Jennifer Report 14 Feb 2013 17:26

Yes Mike - that is him. I have his death cert but want to know about his half siblings. Poor little chap orphaned at 3 months. The Florence Mary Day marriage in 1926 shows that Charles junior went back to India as a trained up soldier. Can't find any children from the couple.

George - Geraldine Alice Kathleen must have died in infancy then as she is not showing on the 1911 census. She would have been 13 and a bit young to have left home to go into service.

Thanks both

George_of_Westbury Report 14 Feb 2013 17:46

Could be Geraldine's death

Aww - poor little thing. Not uncommon was it? I'll see if I can follow them through and find a living descendant who knows anything at all. I find it all very intriguing and much better than the telly! Thanks again for your help.
