Thay looks a maybe then James as a birth registered in the June quarter may have taken between mid Febrauary (6 weeks, I think to register) and then end of June. The English indexes for the June quarter include births that happened sometime in April, May and June plus those up to the 6 weeks ending 1st April.

Her marriage certificate on 19 June 1896 gives her age as 21. Her death certificate on 27 Feb 1902 gives her age as 26. There is no middle name on either of them. so a birth in June 1875 would fit both of these ages if the birth was on or before 19 June 1875.

Maybe a bit of a long shot but................


Using an exact match on both her Christian name and surname there is only one birth coming up that would fit with her age on the census.

I can't see a death for that Jane before 1881 (when your Jane appears on the census with her family). Nor can I see a match on the 1881 census for her in Tynemouth area.

Have you checked the age she gave when she married and the age given for her death in relation to the date that these events took place/? That way you may be able to narrow her birth to within a couple of months. Sorry if I am not saying that very clearly.

Did she use a middle name when she married? If she had no middlename that too could narrow the search for her birth.


Do you know where she was buried? Perhaps an exact DOB on the MI?

Scotlands People details for the 3 others on the 1881 census...Robert born 26/8/1871 at Halkirk. John born 22/12/1873 at Halkirk and Mary Ann born 18/4/1880 at Thurso. All shows parents Robert and RoseAnn Mackay so these are the same family. Is there any way possible to find out where in England Jane was born and get birth date ?

Hi

I am trying to find birth details for Jane Mackay. Born approx 1874 in Caithness (probably Thurso or maybe Halkirk). Parents are Robert Mackay & Rose Ann Mackay (m/s Gibson) who married at Halkirk on 25 June 1869.

Jane Mackay moved to Edinburgh sometime after the 1891 census and married George Swanson on 19 June 1896 at Edinburgh. She died 27 Feb 1902 in Edinburgh. Have found everything except the birth certificate.
