Hello, looking for a marriage for Alexander Lawrence to a Clara Dudley around 1908, London area. They had a daughter Lily I lawrence born 1909. I did trace a 1911 census where it lists Alexander as aged 32 Operative Baker born in Dundee Forfar. Then again on the 1901 census with mother Helen and brother William ( a baker)living in Dundee at this time...I cant seem to find a marriage which I asume was in London as I cant find one her in Scotland and Clara was born London according to 1911 census, nor can I find a birth for Lily in 1909.

.Can any one help :-S

If the marriage isn't on freebmd, it didn't take place in England/Wales

If the daughter was born in Scotland, her birth cert should record the details of her parents' marriage

Which 1911 census are your referring to?

Where was LILY supposedly born?

How do you know Clara's maiden name?

You need to clarify things a bit............

You're welcome Reggie. Don't know why her name would still be Dudley when she was married though.

I don't see why Alexander recorded his 'wife' under a surname other than his own.

Unlikely that they ever married, I would have thought

EDIT

Didn't see your post.......saying more-or-less the same thing!

Scottish wifes are quite often shown on census by their maiden name but a bit surprised to see one on an English census shown that way

Thanks guys :-D

alviegal Report 19 Feb 2013 14:11

Okay, having seen safc's marriage record, I will need to amend the marriage to 1907. Does look like 1917 though. But the form was verified on 23rd April 1917 so would not be possible to have been married at the end of the year.

Apologies for that.
