I am trying to find the birth mother for leonard who was adopted in 1910 by Albert Edward and Rosalia Bagnall, I believe he was born in the London area possibly Shoreditch in either 1910 or poss 1909. Perhaps he was born to an unwed mother a relative of the family, it does seem a likely possibility. Leonard Percy Andrews possibly born at Edmonton and there is a record of birth for this name in 1910 but not sure if it is him.

There were a few of that name. One born Portsmouth in 1908 and one born 1910 New Forest.

If you check, you'll find that his death was registered as BAGNALL

yes thank you, i do believe that he did use the name bagnall and I am not sure if his name was legaly changed I have had a bit of difficulty in tracking his movements past the 1930,s and i dont think that he remained in touch with other family members after his adopted parents died (Albert and rosalia) it remains a mystery as to how he came to be adopted by my grand parents, they had their first child die (reason and date unknown) the name of a birth parent(s) could perhaps give a clue.

I am very interested in learning more about nellie and any information would be welcome as I am unable to gather any on where she came from, went to or parents etc.
Leonard Percy was adopted into my mothers family and took the name Bagnall he lived in the Tottenham, haggerston, Finchley and Shoreditch area of London at least until the early 1930,s. Ibelieve that he may have married a Dora M Hodges in Sept 1933 or 1937 and died Greater London Dec 1971 but these facts (marriage and death) have not been confirmed.

Thank you reggie I will follow up on ordering those certificates I live in Canada so it takes a while to get them and I have quite a collection now of relatives, I do try to get as much information first to limit the expense of ordering wrong ones which has happened before.

I am seeking some assistance re James William Bagnall born 12 April 1927 (I have his birth certificate fro GRO) mother Rosalia Bagnall nee Smith. His mother, my Grandmother died the following year and his father also died (Albert Edward Bagnall 1931 after a lenghy illness. James I am told was adopted out not long after his mother died, I believe he may have died in 1963 in wales but this is not confirmed, I would like any information on him as i have so little and in particular if he got married and to whom, I would assume that he remained in the greater London area. James was born at home 111 Gospatrick Road Wood Green, Edmonton, Middlesex and lived for a short time at 218 Risley Avenue
