Thanks Mike.
I had seen that one but wasn't sure because of the middle name.
I'll try and search St.Leonards when I can get to the LMA.
Thank you for your help

GlitterBaby - William could have been his father but could equally well have been a brother.
He did call his son William so that could have been after his father.

Mike - As I've said he never used a middle name.
It may well be him. Are there any other children with same parents?

The witness Geo Yarrow seems to be a professional witness as is shown on all the other marriages on that page

The other witness is a Sarah Pountney

He never used a middle name but that's not to say he didn't have one

Have you figured out the witness - William Layton - on that 1830 marriage record

Von

Von Report 24 Feb 2013 21:36

Hi
Yes it's a birth/christening I'm looking for.

Mike- He married Ann Hayward in 1830
Too early for father to be recorded at marriage.

You could post his marriage and a census so we know which one.

Did he marry Ann Hayward in 1830 ?
Did he have a middle initial ?

There is a tree with a different DOB

Robert E Layton
Birth 1809 in Christchurch Spitalfields, London, England

and parents as ...

William Layton 1780 –
Mary 1780 –

but no telling how accurate this is

Any idea of the name of his father ? Or is that what you are trying to find out

I'm looking for a birth of Robert Layton about 1811 in London.

In the 1851 census Robert's birthplace is given as Christchurch, Middlesex.
He is a bobbin Turner.

I have all the census details, his marriage and children's details but to date I don't have a birth or baptism for him.
Any help gratefully received.
