I am trying to confirm the parent of my g-grandfather as he was born just after the 1911 census was taken. So it is hard to confirm my g-grandfathers family in the 1911 census is he doesn't show up. Are their any public records where I could clarify my g-grandfathers family after 1911 other than BMD?

GlitterBaby Report 25 Feb 2013 20:40

Marriage cert would give the name and occupation of his father

Buy the birth cert

rootgatherer Report 25 Feb 2013 20:41

Do you have an exaact date of birth for him from his death registration please? Is it a common surname? Have you found his birth registration on FreeBMD?

Do you have his marriage certificate to get his father's name and occupation?

If you give more details someone may be able to help more.

GlitterBaby Report 25 Feb 2013 20:41

Look at FreeBMD for his birth and that would give maiden name of mother and then look for any possible marriages

Dea Report 25 Feb 2013 20:46

If we knew the parents we might find an army record for the father giving the birth details of the child ?

JohnDoe Report 25 Feb 2013 20:48

Here are a few details of my g-grandfather.

Born 18 September 1911 in Cardiff, Wales.
Married in 1933 to Mary Elizabeth Mees in Cardiff, Wales.
Death is not 100% sure but he died in Cardiff, Wales.
Occupation was a Bricklayer/Stone Mason.
Mothers Maiden Name was Donald.

He had 3 children:
Barbara Hill,
Kenneth Edward Hill,
Lorraine Hill

rootgatherer Report 25 Feb 2013 20:53

So his name was Arthur R Hill?

Births Dec 1911 Hill Arthur R Donald Cardiff 11a 646

MarieCeleste Report 25 Feb 2013 20:53

So this is the marriage?

England & Wales, Marriage Index, 1916-2005
Name: Mary E Mees
Spouse Surname: Arthur R Hill
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1933
Registration district: Cardiff
Inferred County: Glamorgan
Volume Number: 11a
Page Number: 1103

You can order a copy of the marriage certificate from GRO: costs £9.25

It should tell you his age, occupation, address and father's details. You can then work back from that.

Hill Arthur R Donald Cardiff 11a 646

Dea Report 25 Feb 2013 20:54

If you know the mothers maiden name was Donald you must have at least one of the parents' first names?? AND, perhaps the father's occupation ??

GlitterBaby Report 25 Feb 2013 20:56

What ever info is found for you the certs would still need to be bought to confirm the postings anyway

You say on this thread, also started today, that you are awaiting Arthur R Hill's birth certificate. His parentage was shown I think!

patchem Report 25 Feb 2013 21:02

What was the point of asking us for the same information that you had already received?
I appreciate that you wanted clarification, but we tend to check out your information as a starting point.

Arthur R Hill b 1911, 1911 census shows Hill family with the sister Lilian that poster said his ggrandfather had

JohnDoe Report 26 Feb 2013 11:06

Thanks for the help, and this THREAD was not suppose to be like my other thread. Clearly in my post, this thread was asking how to clarify and search records AFTER 1911 till now? But Thanks all for the help, there are so many different things to look into from your posts so I will have to clarify my g-grandparents names with a Birth Certificate... Will the birth certificate also provide me with the DoB or Age of parents and/or number of siblings?
