The cert of the 1840 death posted above would say how old she was........and if she was 'wife' or 'widow'..and the name of her husband.

There are several possible Robert Johnsons living Darlington 1841. No obvious deaths for him pre-1841 in that area, though plenty in Durham as a whole!

It's possible Ann died and he couldn't care for his daughter:

Deaths Jun 1840 (>99%)
JOHNSON Ann Darlington 24 36

But so hard to say isn't it?

did Elizabeth marry ? her marrige may say if her father was deceased.

Death GRO refs for that time didnt show ages,it will be on the cert tho, soyou may have to search on the last known araea

Hi,

I am researching my ancestors and have come across a married couple Robert Johnson 1811 and Ann Vasey 1818 both born in Durham. They married in 1835 in Darlington and had a Daughter Elizabeth in 1837. Elizabeth lived with Ann's parents from 1841 cenus onwards. I cannot find any record of either Robert or Ann in the 1841 cenus onwards nor can I find their deaths around about that time.

Any information would be gratefully appreciated

Lisa
