Hi All, thanks for the replies. My mother who is still living but has very little memory after an accident remembers my grandfather setting off early on his bicycle and coming back late and saying he was visiting family. She also remembers that the Vollans family were always regarded as "family" and this must come from my grandfathers side as my Grandmothers side are all from Devon E Stonehouse area. |

Is this your grandfather's marriage, as she is from Devon? |

Have you got your Mother's birth certificate, and her parents' marriage certificate? |

Do you know your grandmother's name? Their marriage certificate should name Arthur's father (if he knew his father). |

Hi All. Arthur Rose was my grandfather on my mothers side Born abt 1892, lived most of his adult life in Flaxby nr Knaresborough. Having traced my relatives (mostly mothers side from devon) i come to a stop with him. As I remember he is mixed somehow with the family Vollans (photographers in Knaresborough) but I have no surviving relatives that can shed any light here, so If anyone has any ideas It would be great. Im a bit of a novice here! |
